New Director of National Coordination appointed within Clinical Studies Sweden
To strengthen national coordination, Clinical Studies Sweden has established a new role as Director of National Coordination. Jonas Appelberg assumed the role on 1 April.
Jonas Appelberg will be responsible for leading the operational work within Clinical Studies Sweden’s national collaboration. He currently serves as Deputy Director of Research and Education in Region Örebro County and will hold the position as Director on a 50% basis.

Strengthening coordination and implementation
The role aims to further strengthen coordination and develop the work to create better conditions for clinical studies within healthcare.

Extensive experience in research support and collaboration
Jonas Appelberg has extensive experience in research support within clinical research and has held various senior and leadership positions in Region Västernorrland and Region Örebro County over the past 20 years.
In his previous role as Director of Research and Development in Region Västernorrland, he was involved in collaboration related to the establishment of Umeå University’s regional medical education programme, as well as the development of research support for clinical research. He also contributed to the establishment of the regional node Forum Norr, a collaboration between the four northern regions and Umeå University.
