Randomized trials are the gold standard for establishing causality, but they are often expensive and difficult to conduct. Mendelian randomization uses genetic variants as naturally occurring “instruments” that mimic randomization at conception. In this seminar, we will introduce how MR works, why it become influential in modern epidemiology and how to interpret MR findings in the medical literature.

This seminar will be held by Wendy Wu, Region Västerbotten/ Institutionen för diagnostik och intervention, Umeå universitet.
